Herbert Smith was the creator of the Sopwith Triplane, the aircraft that started the Dreidecker craze in 1917. reply | Klaatu83, e-mail, 17.11.2012 22:58 This was intended to be a single-seat carrier-based torpedo plane. Note the split undercarriage, to enable the carriage of a torpedo beneath the fuselage. I believe this airplane was designed by Herbert Smith, chief designer at Sopwith and creator of the Sopwith Cuckoo, the Royal Navy's first carrier-based torpedo bomber. reply | franco zanolli, e-mail, 31.08.2012 01:45 there is a model scale 1 /50,maybe,at the Science and Technology museum in Milan reply |
